In Real Estate SEO Content Matters
By: Brandon Cornett

Advanced Summary:
This article pertains to real estate search engine optimization (SEO). In this article's usage, real estate SEO is the act of improving a real estate agent's website for better search engine visibility.

Quality Content Matters
Your real estate website needs quality content. Even if you do everything else right, your site will rank low if it lacks quality content. Search engines love content. In fact, second only to link popularity, content is one of the top factors by which a search engine will rank your website. It's one of the ways they validate genuine websites from "spam" websites.

Readers also enjoy quality content. And, as we've discussed, you should always put the reader first when optimizing your website for search engines. In this section, we will look at ways to create content that attracts readers and search engines.

Originality is Key
Search engines favor original content. There's no doubt about this in search engine circles. Original content means your content is unique to your website and is not found on other sites.

Readers also like original content. Think about your own web habits for a moment. When you come across a website with the same content as other sites you've visited, how long do you stick around? Would the site offer you any unique value? Obviously not.

Original content is easy to come by ... you simply create it yourself. When creating your original content, make it relevant to your target audience. Then, be sure to *naturally* incorporate your key phrases into the following areas of each web page:

* Body content
* Headers
* Text hyperlinks
* HTML title elements

It won't always be practical to incorporate your key phrases into all of the areas listed above. So use your best judgment. Remember, your pages should cater to readers first and search engines second. You don't want to over-use key phrases to the point of awkwardness. Nobody would want to read your content if you did that, even if they did find it through a search engine.

Some people say that SEO today is all about links, and nothing else. I say these people are ignorant of the big picture. Proper SEO involves more than getting people to your website. It should also take into account what those people find (and do) when they get there.
